Sun TV network, a popular television broadcasting operator in South India, has launched in-house video-on-demand service in Sun NXT. The service is available at the time of writing this post, and the plans begin at Rs 50 per month and go upto Rs 480 per year.
The service is available as a web app on the desktop as well as a mobile app for Android and iOS users.
Sun TV network has established since 1993 and is owned by Kalanidhi Maran. It boasts of a range of a South India language programs, and is primarily aimed at content in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Sun NXT comes at the time of Hotstar’s and Netflix’s popular growth in India, which happen to offer TV shows, movies, sports streaming and original series amongst various other choices, at competitive prices.
Sun NXT’s priced at Rs 50 per month, Rs 130 for 90 days (quaterly plan), Rs 480 for one year (annual plan). Sun NXT also happens to enable offline viewing by allowing users to download content on the mobile apps.
Sun NXT is available for free for the first month. Sign up would require your payment information though, which will be charged at the beginning of the second month. It would be interesting to see how Sun TV’s bet on Sun NXT pans out, considering they have a huge catalogue with as much as 4000 movies, TV shows, music videos + live TV!
