Jio announces DhanDhanaDhan Offer; What are they even trying here?

Jio’s latest announcement is here and it’s a brand new offer package. Calling it the Jio DhanDhanaDhan Offer, users will be entitled to get 84 days of free Jio usage on paying Rs 309 or Rs 509. This looks a lot like the existing Jio Summer Surprise Offer, but the existing Jio Summer Surprise Offer users will not be able to redeem the Jio DhanDhanaDhan Offer.

Jio’s basically duplicating the Jio Summer Surprise Offer and is calling it the Jio DhanDhanaDhan Offer here. Users who have subscribed to Jio Prime yet can available 1GB of free data daily for 84 days at the cost of Rs 349. Jio Prime users can get this at Rs 309 instead.

For the 2GB per day package, Jio Prime users can recharge with Rs 509, and it will be activated for 84 days while non-Jio Prime users have to make a Rs 549 payment to get the Jio DhanDhanaDhan Offer for 84 days.

These plans happened to display on the MyJio app and it says that these plans are applicable for a period of 28 days. But, with the Jio DhanDhanaDhan Offer promotion, Jio is bundling in extra 56 days.

It makes no sense, to be honest

It was just a few days back when TRAI had adviced Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited to drop the freebies scheme. While that might be a move to govern healthy competition, the launch of the Jio DhanDhanaDhan Offer is confusing more than ever now.

Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited did respect TRAI’s advice and has dropped the Jio Summer Surprise Offer. Users will not longer the Jio Summer Surprise Offer on making a payment of Rs 303. But, now, the company’s offering the same package in a different name: Jio DhanDhanaDhan Offer.
