Since our last update in November 2016, the number of people using Direct has grown from 300 million to 375 million. We want to make Direct the best place to have fun, visual conversations with your friends. Stay tuned for more. – Instagram in a report.
There’s no major change in user experience with this update. It’s that users will no longer see a separate tab for disappearing photos and videos at the top of the messages screen. It’s put into a single chat screen instead.
Swiping to the right will bring the regular camera mode for posting quick Stories.
Swiping to the left will bring the conversations screen. There’s a new Camera button at the bottom in blue which when clicked will enable you to quickly send disappearing photos and videos to anyone you select. You can pick users in single or bulk.
Alternatively, you can go into a single chat screen and click the Camera button in blue at the bottom left. This does the same action, for beams the media to a single person/group.
Keep track of who has seen your message through notifications right within the thread.
