Simplenote 1.2.0 for Mac brings support for note sharing, improved search

Simplenote 1.2.0 for Mac, by Automattic, has received a major update that brings a whole new look and features. The new app with version counter 1.2.0 is available on the Mac App Store, and the update is available for all users as on December 22. The new Simplenote Mac app matches the design offered on the Simplenote Mac app for Windows and Linux. The latest version now has the search box and the note editing tools moved to the top, offering user a better note editing experience.

Telegram X is an official iOS app with higher speed, realized in Swift

Telegram X is a brand new iOS app that’s announced officially by Telegram Messenger LLP. The app has been completely realized in Swift language, with higher speed, slicker animations, support for themes and more efficient battery usage. It’s surprising that Telegram has decided to push out a new app, as opposed to updating the existing app on the App Store. It’s possible to use both the apps side-by-side on your iPhone or iPad, but the original Telegram app for iOS is likely to be phased out.

Firefox is now available on Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The app is available for all users having a Fire TV or Fire TV Stick. Once installed, you can use Firefox on your Fire TV or Fire TV Stick to do anything that you would normally do with Firefox on your computer or smartphone. Fire TV devices are home to over 500,000 movies and TV shows, thousands of app channels and Alexa skills.

Google Maps Go lands on Google Play Store

Android Oreo (Go Edition) was announced a few days back, and it’s essentially Google’s take at offering rich Android experience with the latest apps and features on lower-end smartphones. Google is specifically targeting smartphones with 512 MB to 1 GB of RAM. Called Go by Google, the program offers a range of important apps that will be available in lightweight packages, enabling faster, easier use on lower-end smartphones. The program launched with the availability of Google Go and Files Go apps.

Firefox Focus v4 brings autocomplete, custom search engines

Mozilla just released a large update to Firefox Focus v4 on Android that brings support for autocomplete of URL and usage of custom search engines. Firefox Focus is Mozilla’s vision of offering a lean mobile browser that enables users to browse the web without leaving trace of any activity. It also disables privacy oriented features like blocking ad trackers, content trackers, analytics trackers and social trackers. Firefox Focus was initially available on iOS and Mozilla launched an Android counterpart in June of 2017.

Twitter threads are finally here; Desktop version coming soon

Twitter is officially announcing threads as a feature for all Twitter users. Until now, the feature had been in beta, available for Android users who have signed up for latest beta releases. In the coming days, all Android and iOS users will be able to tweetstorm natively using the Android or iOS app. The new threading feature on Twitter for Android and iOS will be available as a “Add another tweet” button which will be shown right below the threads you create.

Twitter is reportedly testing a new tweetstorming feature on the official Twitter app, and is enabling this feature for beta testers. Tweetstorming is a popular publishing concept that has been introduced by Marc Andreessen (@pmarca) and enables users on the world’s largest micro-blogging site to tweet content in more than 280 (previously 140) characters in successive tweets. It’s basically replying to your previous tweets multiple times, that you form a chain of tweets.
